Will the Real Varna Please Stand Up?

At one point, you're going to have to battle Dr. Serph. Of course, it's not the real Dr. Serph -- it's a phantom memory, but that doesn't make him less pissed at being dead. You also get to battle Volleyball!Serph, who is a fake incarnation of Sera's "ideal" Serph. He doesn't do anything except go "SERA! SERA!" like a douche, but he's a demon, too, so you better take him down.

Don't go into the battle expecting a sissy pretty boy doctor, okay? This guy's dead, he's pissed, and he's a demon. He is not to be treated lightly, especially since you only have Serph (who's been MIA for the last MILLION HOURS) and Dr. Heat O'Brien in your party. Thankfully, you are both also demons.

Even though Dr. O'Brien wasn't a demon in the first place, but roll with it.

Yaksa Real Varna (1800 HP), Yaksa Fake Varna (1800 HP)
Null: Expel, Death, Ailments
Karma Points: 80000
Item Reward: Soma x1

Okay, I was kind of joking up there. It's actually a really easy fight, especially since Agni (Heat's Atma) has Agidyne at his disposal. Keep pelting the suckers with his fire-based attacks, and make sure Serph heals. I don't care how you have him heal, whether it's with items or magic (preferably magic, though), but keep your HP high. This is because even though the Two Evil Varnas are pushovers, they do each have a rather nasty attack: Black Surge and White Surge. Of course, "nasty" really depends on how much HP you have, as each attack usually only does about 70-80 damage each time.

And that's pretty much it. Have Heat hit 'em like a bitch and heal, heal, heal if you need it. If not, well, let Serph hit them around, too. They don't wear his face as well as he does, after all.

Here's a few battle quotes from our "fearsome" opponents:

Real Varna: I won't lose to you, Heat! Everything will be mine... Knowledge! Power! Everything! Get out of my way, you imposter! I'm not dead! I can't be dead! Noooooooooooo, I still haven't...
Haven't what? Fed his cat? Picked up his laundry? Despite the cliff-hanger ending, at least his lines are more interesting than Fake Varna's, which go something like this:

Fake Varna: Sera... Sera... Where is Sera... Sera... Where... are you... Sera?
On and on and on like a broken record your grandparents should have thrown out twenty years ago. Man, imposters just have no sense of creativity.

I personally always wondered why Fake Heat from the beach didn't show up to help fight against the Powers of Serphitude. I guess his only skill was "throwing a volleyball at Serph's head". Backwards | Main page | Windy-Days.net
