kojima mizuirobutterflies are passive-aggressive and put their problems on the shelf;A young Japanese high school student, Mizuiro seems every bit the darling and innocent friend of series lead Ichigo Kurosaki. Of course, this is something of a lie; while he is a good friend to his fellow classmates, the wee Mizuiro is anything but innocent. An infamous playboy "who likes older women" and gossip-monger, Mizuiro uses his wide eyes and naive smile to charm those around them. This serves to frustrate and foil his slightly geekish best friend, Keigo, to no end. Mizuiro began as comedic relief, but has slowly begun developing as a deeper character. While he has not had the focus that several of the more predominant characters have had, he did have a short back-up story, A Wonderful Error, in volume 12. This story revealed several previously unknown facets of Mizuiro's character, such as his home life, stance on interpersonal relations, and the admission that his ability to come up with excuses is "pathologically" good. It has also recently been hinted that he may be endowed with spiritual powers like the rest of the regular cast. What this means for Mizuiro and his friends remains to be seen.
