Chance of FlurriesBy Kitsu Sakuma
Paramina Rift It was cold... very cold. I wasn't about to let that fact deterr our travels, but eventually it got too stormy to continue any further. Fran found us a cozy cave of sorts, and we were herded into it by Balthier, whom apparently is affrighted by snow. Quite amusing, that... every time a drift was kicked up by the wind he shot at it. It made for some decent amusement on our way to Mt. Bur-Omisace, anyhow. Alas, I digress. I sit here writing, in a secluded corner of the cove. Vaan looks chilled... I shall inquire whether he wishes to be warmed. Larsa put away his journal, tucked it into the folds of his tunic. He stood and stretched lightly, then sauntered over to Vaan, taking a seat gracefully next to him with his legs folded neatly underneath him. The blonde's hazel eyes slid over to him, but he didn't move. "...Something you need, Larsa?" He asked, with a small smile. The Prince returned the gesture but shook his head. "No," he replied, "I had simply noticed your state of dress and wondered if you were at all chilled." This earned the boy a short bark of laughter before his reply. "Yeah, I'm a little cold, but I'll be fine." He smiled warmly and curled further into himself, sighing a little as he fished around in his pack for a wolf pelt to use as a blanket. Having sold them all, he grumbled loudly and pouted, looking at the fire in the center of the cave, with his companions seated around it. The boy's smooth voice punctuated the air. "Why don't you go sit by the fire?" His green eyes looked calculatingly at the older boy, as he blinked slowly and waited patiently for a response. Vaan stared at him for a moment, thinking up a reason. He replied simply with a shrug. Larsa chuckled quietly and sat down completely, scooting up next to Vaan's side and looking at the fire. Vaan could feel the warmth radiating from the boy, and envied it silently for a few moments. As he sat in his own little bio-sphere of freezing misery, his teeth began to chatter. Larsa noticed and sighed with a bit of dismay. "Vaan, you're going to freeze... Here. Spread your legs." "........" Vaan stared speechless at the Prince, blinking, trying to figure out if he heard him correctly or not. After a moment, his brain broke, and he tilted his head a bit before asking. "...Excuse me?" "We need to share body heat... As long as you insist on sitting away from the rest." The boy was silently hoping he chose him over the group... and he did, rather hesitantly, as his feet slid forward a bit, knees parting, and he dropped his arms to his sides with a blush tinting his cheeks lightly. Larsa took a moment to soak in the image, and crawled innocently in between Vaan's legs, sliding his own underneath the crook of Vaan's left knee and leaning his body against Vaan's. He rested his head on the older boy's chest, exhaling in a soft sigh as he snuck his arm around Vaan's waist. Vaan, now nearly exploding in embarassment, blinked down at him nearly dumbfounded and failed to notice the five pairs of eyes staring in a mixed spectrum of amusement and disbelief. He looked up, and his eyes widened as Penelo began to giggle; he looked away as his blush deepened, then down at Larsa, and back at the group. "What?" He shot as a retort. "I'm cold. He offered..." And he trailed off, scratching the side of his neck. Larsa, who had been listening carefully and analyzing the entire situation, bit the inside of his cheek to stifle a chuckle. Vaan glared and eventually the stares were redirected at the flames, at which time he decided to finally look down at Larsa. The boy felt the movement and looked up to meet his gaze, and Vaan was quite surprised to see emotion brimming deep within his emerald irises. He couldn't stop the smile, however, as it crept up on his lips. When the gesture was mirrored once again, Vaan felt something stir in his heart. With a quick look back at the party, who had began to wind down and settle in for the night, he took the opportunity to relax into the warmth he had envied a few minutes previous, and settled his hands lightly on the boy's hip. "You should try to sleep... We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow..." He whispered quietly into the Prince's ear, and recieved a nod in reply. "Good night, Vaan." He paused, then quietly added "... and thank you." The duo nodded off shortly after, oblivious to the jealous stare eminating from a certain member of the party. 'Thus is such, for the leading man... Only sometimes does he find his happily ever after.'
Paramina Rift I had a wonderful dream during my slumber yesternight. I cannot share any details, however, because I do not wish to incriminate myself. I shall say in truth that it was one of the more pleasant reveries I've experienced. As a fitting end for such a dream, I woke up and had diffuculty defining the reality. Nestled against Vaan, his arms around me, I almost felt as though I was still dreaming... Alas, I digress once again. Off to Bur-Omisace this morn, as the storm has arrested. I hope I can sleep as well as I did yesternight once more on the morrow. x | return |
