The Future

Larsa’s future is both bright and tragic. As described in BASCH, he now has Basch’s aid in protecting Archadia. He also has the friendship of Penelo, the spunky dancer from the Main Party; the final FMV is framed around a letter she writes him one year after the events of the game. However, the empire is probably still hated by many. Not only would there be several irate countries previously crossed by the country, but staunch nationalists inside Archadia herself may be disgruntled with how their beloved homeland has lost its valuable territories. Let us not forget that Archadia probably had to deal out quite a few reparations to former conquests, which means an economic hit for the land. Situations like this have, historically, led to revolutions, wars, and terrorist attacks.

Also, Larsa is now the last remaining Solidor. Orphaned at twelve and without his brothers, he is virtually alone, save for Basch. If the Senate was reinstated (which it probably was), Larsa will always have to deal with the greed of upwardly-mobile men who would love to gain more power at his expense.

Not only is he fighting a battle with few allies, he would be expected to continue the Solidor line. This could mean a strategic marriage – one that may not be for love.

Finally, Larsa never asked for this job. Imagine the shock of realizing that you, the wee, peace-loving twelve-year-old, must now carry the burdens of an entire empire! The freedom of a younger brother is now taken from him, and he must focus on duty, duty, duty. That’s enough to make anyone buckle.

But I don’t think Larsa ever will. He’s strong, capable, and eager to learn. Intelligent and resourceful, he seems more than willing to listen to others, and with a friend like Basch, it is doubtful he could go wrong. While his battles are not over, I’m confident that post-game, Larsa will be a beloved emperor. Who knows? Maybe he’ll go down in Archadian history as “Larsa the Wise”. ;)
